A local golf course is offering free rounds for kids during the month of August.
Jack McKee, a resident of University Park, said the development, 25 miles north of Manhattan near Tuttle Creek Lake, wants to offer families a day of inexpensive fun.
That’s why the course, which normally charges $5 per person, is waiving fees for the month.
“It can be hard to take the kids out,” McKee said, especially when they’re learning to play. In addition to cost, parents might be concerned about holding up other players.
University Park has a nine-hole rural course with buffalo-grass fairways. It’s open daily from dawn until dark.
McKee said there’s a playground, picnic shelter and restrooms nearby, in case families want to make a day of it.
“It’s just a great place,” McKee said.
