Correctional sergeant retiring from RCPD

Correctional Sgt. Darrell Morris retires effective July 31 after a long tenure as a corrections officer and later as a corrections supervisor with the Riley County Police Department -Jail Division.

Morris was the first Corrections Officer ever to be selected for the Department’s Employee of the Year, and is directly responsible for implementing an inmate badge system for classification ensuring security of inmates, as well as, the supervisor responsible for monitoring the Inmate Worker Program within the jail.

Department officials said Morris’s departure from the department will be sadly felt by all members of each division and department as a whole, and wished the best of luck to him and his wife, Teresa, as they depart for their home state of Iowa.
