Consider making donations to Holiday Food, Fund Drive

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

As I celebrate my 30th holiday season in Manhattan, I want to say how much it excited me to once again see the letter from Mayor John Matta on the Holiday Food and Fund Drive.

The food and monetary donations that are generated from this event make up just less than half of the budgeted food and funds necessary to allow the Flint Hills Breadbasket to perform its services during the year.

The Breadbasket continues to be the central hub that works with the local churches to distribute food for those in need. I have served in the past as the treasurer, and if you ever question just how far the dollar can go, then pay a visit to the Breadbasket on Yuma Street and take a tour. It will warm your heart.

As we begin the holiday season, please consider a donation in support of the Breadbasket.
