Company to add 100 jobs

By The Mercury

A manufacturing company based in Manhattan is planning a $7 million capital investment in its local plant, which is expected to create 100 additional production jobs.

Florence Manufacturing Company, a division of Gibraltar Industries, will employ more than 400 people in Manhattan after the incremental workforce expansion is done by late fall, according to a press release from Florence officials.

The company manufactures and distributes centralized mailboxes and parcel locker products.

This investment doesn’t include building expansion but will go toward new equipment and infrastructure improvements, according to the release.

Florence officials said the company in recent years has developed new delivery equipment technology including electronic, software-enabled products and services.

They said the manufacture and distribution of centralized mailboxes and parcel locker products in North America is a large growth area among new developers and the United State Postal Service.

“Our team is very excited to fulfill the expanding business needs of all of our various customers and partners,” said John Altstadt, president of Florence Manufacturing. “We’re also enthusiastic about where our business is going overall with interesting opportunities ahead.”
