Commission approves court fee hike

By Corene Brisendine

City Commissioners unanimously approved the proposal to raise municipal court costs to upgrade the court’s computer system Tuesday night. They also unanimously approved zoning changes for Manhattan Area Technical College and the First National Bank building on the corner of Claflin Road and Dennison Avenue. On the consent agenda, all items were unanimously approved with the exception of the Blue River Channel Transportation Enhancement Stormwater Project and the mayor’s appointment to the Social Services Advisory Board. The Blue River Channel Project passed 4-0-1 with Commissioner Rich Jankovich abstaining because of a conflict of interest. The appointment of Chuck Henderson was approved by a 3-2 vote with Commissioners Karen McCulloh and Usha Reddi opposing.
