A K-State student thwarted a would-be burglar Thursday after he reportedly witnessed the woman stealing a purse from the vehicle of a movie-goer in the lot of Seth Childs Cinema.

It was between 4:30 and 5 p.m. when Cory Hendrickson, 23, told police that he saw a woman walking away from a Toyota Forerunner with a busted passenger window and a ringing alarm.

Hendrickson told police that the woman had stolen a purse from the SUV, but said that he obtained it following a confrontation.

Lt. Josh Kyle said the purse and damaged SUV belonged to Jenna Bell, 28, Manhattan.

Kyle said officers discovered another vehicle with a busted window in the lot and believe the cases are connected.

The female suspect was described as approximately 5 feet, 2 inches tall with blonde hair, blue eyes and freckles. She is believed to be in her mid-20s.
