CHIEF goes 1-2 at Omaha tourney

The boys basketball team for Manhattan CHIEF (Christian Homes In Educational Fellowship), won one game and lost two Dec. 2-3 at the Omaha Roadrunners Holiday Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. In the opening round, CHIEF fell 64-60 in a back-andforth battle with a team from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Patrick Schrader was the leading scorer for Manhattan CHIEF with 21 points. Derek Bowman scored 15, and James Wilson added 10. The Omaha Lightning prevailed over Manhattan CHIEF in the second game 52-42. In the third game, CHIEF dominated the Lincoln Eagles by a score of 63-31. Dylan Peters led all scorers with 17 points. Schrader scored 15, and Bowman added 12.

The tournament marked the debut of new CHIEF head coach John Peters.


Paul Hayen picked up a hole-in-one on Sunday at Stagg Hill Golf Club. Hayen used his 8-iron to put the ball from 120 yards out on the 14th hole. Loyd Stone was the lone witness of the achievement.
