Kansas State senior Brittany Chambers was named to WNIT All-Tournament team Saturday in an announcement following the championship game.
Drexel defeated Utah 46-43 on Saturday in the title game.
While helping the Wildcats to a third appearance in the WNIT semifinals, Chambers registered 130 points (26.0 ppg) — shooting 47 percent from the field, including 49 percent from beyond the arc. Chambers averaged eight rebounds and 4.8 assists a game as well.
In the Wildcats’ tournament-opening win against Texas Southern, Chambers set the K-State single-game scoring record with 42 points, while shooting 15-of-25 from the field, including 9-of-15 from behind the arc. She also pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out five assists.
Chambers followed that performance with three more games of 20 or more points in wins over Illinois State, Ball State and Illinois. In the Wildcats’ semifinal overtime loss to Utah on Wednesday, Chambers posted her 15th career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Chambers joins Ashley Sweat (2007), Kimberly Dietz (2006) and Claire Coggins (2006) as former Wildcats to earn WNIT All-Tournament team honors. Coggins was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 WNIT as the Wildcats captured the title over Marquette.
Chambers adds Saturday’s honor to her Associated Press All-America honorable mention honor, her Senior CLASS Award All-America second team citation, her WBCA All-Region 5 honor and her third career All-Big 12 First Team honor.
K-State will host its annual banquet on April 14 at 1 p.m. in the main ballroom of the Kansas State Alumni Center. Tickets for the banquet are available for $40 per person and fans are encouraged to make their reservations by Monday, April 8 at 5 p.m., or until the event is sold out.
