Chamber’s letter-writing campaign for Fort Riley misses post’s true purpose

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I was very displeased with the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce’s community letter-writing campaign regarding the future of Fort Riley. Not a single one of the seven “talking points” deals with the U.S. Army’s primary mission: To defend the United States of America.

Instead, the first talking point implies that the purpose of Fort Riley is to boost the region’s economy.

To me, it’s narrow-minded, short-sighted and nearly unpatriotic. I’m not writing one of their letters.
