Cecelia Martinez, 95, a longtime Manhattan resident, died Saturday at the Medicalodges in Eudora.

The family provided some of the following information.

She was born March 6, 1918, in Rokeby, Neb. She was the daughter of Abelino and Asuncion Serrillo.

Cecelia was united in marriage to Sabino Martinez.  He preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her sons, Sabino Martinez Jr. and Raoul J. Martinez; and her sisters, Virginia Aguilar and Evangeline Buckman.

She worked in various restaurants in Manhattan. She also helped to operate family restaurants with her children.

Cecelia was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.  She was a volunteer with the RSVP in Manhattan, the Flint Hills Breadbasket, and the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoyed the activities and people at the Manhattan Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Martinez, of Lawrence; and her son, Frederick D. Martinez, of Topeka; her sister, Eleanor Smalldridge, of Manhattan; and also her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan, with the Rev. Joseph S. Popelka as celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.

The rosary will be prayed prior to the Mass Wednesday at the church at 9:30 a.m.
