Cause of death released in Bonner-Higgins case

By The Mercury

Riley County police revealed Monday that Kawon Higgins, 26, used a handgun to kill Amanda Bonner, 23, his former girlfriend, with whom he had two children, and himself, and that both died from the wounds inflicted.

Lt. Josh Kyle said they were waiting to release the information until after they had the final autopsy report.

A friend reported the discovery of their bodies at Bonner’s house at 715 Yuma St. on Dec. 30.

Higgins and Bonner had a 4-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, who Kyle said are temporarily placed with family, pending a custody hearing.
