Cats set to face Beavers

Playing in its first Super Regional in school history, Kansas State will have a challenge ahead of it this weekend.

The Wildcats will open play against Oregon State on Saturday in Corvallis, Ore., at 6 p.m. (CST). The Beavers are the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA tournament field.

It will be Big 12 champion versus Pac 12 champion as the teams square off in a best-of-three format with a trip to the College World Series on the line. The games will run Saturday through Sunday. Sunday’s game will be played at 9 p.m. and Monday’s game, if necessary, will be played at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.

Oregon State went 3-0 in its regional, defeating Texas-San Antonio, UC-Santa Barbara and Texas A&M to advance to the Super Regional.

The Beavers are led by freshman starting pitcher Andrew Moore, who has a 13-1 record and 1.22 ERA this season. Oregon State’s top three starters have combined to go 31-5 this season.

Oregon State is led at the plate by sophomore Dylan Davis, who’s hitting .349 with 55 RBIs and 22 doubles.
