Calvin H. Gallup

Calvin H. Gallup, 88, of Blue Rapids, died on Sunday at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids.

Calvin Hammond Gallup was born April 22, 1923 at Blue Rapids He graduated from Marysville High School with the class of 1941.  After high school Mr. Gallup joined the U.S. Navy where he was a gunners mate 2d class during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater.  He married Mildred L. Keller on Nov. 7, 1961 at the Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids.  Mr. Gallup worked for Stryker‚Äôs Shop in Blue Rapids for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He had also worked as a farmer.

Mr. Gallup was a member of New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of the George Bedford Post No. 169 of the American Legion and VFW Post No. 4175 both of Blue Rapids.

He is survived by his wife Millie of Blue Rapids.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m., Thursday at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church.  Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Military Honors provided by VFW Post No. 4175 of Blue Rapids.  Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, North of Blue Rapids.

Memorials are suggested to New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
