CAB change of command

The 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division held a change-of-command ceremony this morning at Fort Riley’s Cavalry Parade Field.

The “Demon” Brigade bid farewell to Col. John Morgan, who has commanded the unit since the summer of 2011, and welcomed Col. Matthew R. Lewis.

Under Morgan’s leadership, the CAB advanced to the most modernized aviation brigade in the Army,  according to a press release from the fort, fielding the AH-64E Apaches, the CH-47F Chinooks and the Gray Eagle UAS, or Unmanned Aircraft System.

Lewis is returning to Fort Riley from Harvard University where he served as a National Security Fellow and Senior Military Fellow for Harvard‚ Future Diplomacy Project.
