Burglary ends in arrest

Riley County officers arrested a Manhattan man for aggravated burglary after an 85-year-old woman found the man at her residence Tuesday morning.

Christopher Webber, 29, 320 S. Manhattan Ave., was arrested in the 300 block of Manhattan Avenue after he fled on his bicycle from the residence of Pauline Adolph, who lives in the 1300 block of that street.

Lt. Josh Kyle said Webber allegedly forced entry into her home a little after 9 a.m. and stole miscellaneous jewelry and coins. He said Webber allegedly fled when the woman found him. There was not a reported confrontation.

Webber also was arrested for criminal damage to property after Kyle said officers found that two doors were damaged during the burglary.

He is confined to the Riley County Jail on $25,000 bond.
