Tenants of Manhattan’s Lee Crest Apartments, the site of a February arson, have reported several burglaries that occurred during the time they were displaced from their apartments.
Four cases were reported Friday, Sgt. Brad Ingalls said, while two other cases were reported previously.
Tenants, most of them Kansas State University students, were temporarily displaced following the Feb. 6 arson that resulted in the death of Vasanta Pallem, 34, a K-State researcher.
In the most recently reported cases, Ingalls said, approximately $4,091 worth of items was stolen from four apartments belonging to Kristy Swart, 21, Alsaif Murtada, 19, Whitney Dunn, 23 and Mohammed Alrabia, 30.
Those items include flat-screen TVs, gaming consoles and video games and miscellaneous personal items like clothing and jewelry.
On Thursday, another tenant, Jessica Lay, 23, reported a burglary , telling police that a TV and miscellaneous video games were taken from her apartment between Feb. 6 and March 13.
The total loss in that case was $135.
The first reported burglary came from tenant Sirui Zhao, 23, who reported on March 8 that someone stole her TV between Feb. 6 and March 6.
The total loss was $1,000.
The burglaries are under investigation and no arrests have yet been made.
