Bullets third in Manhattan Spring Slam

The Optimist Bullets played in the USSSA Manhattan Spring Slam this weekend.

The Bullets would go 3-2 for the event, losing twice to the tournament champion. The team clinched third place for their hard efforts.

In pool play the Bullets extended their season winning streak to six games with a 4-2 victory over the Topeka Crush and a 13-9 win against the ThunderStyx. In the final pool game the Pink Panthers would end that streak in a 10-0 shutout, with the Bullets struggling on both offense and defense.

In single elimination the Bullets would find their way back to teamwork, and enjoy a 7-2 win over the Optimist Fury. In the semi-final game the Panthers would again upset the Bullets with a 6-2 loss.

The Optimist Bullets are Mady Trujillo, Rachel Duer, Ashlynn Bledsoe, Malary Tajchman, Allie Jo Hiatt, Giselle Thirakul, Sarah Roberts, Breanna Loy, Alex Hoelscher, Savanna Cavanaugh, and Gabrielle Nelms.

The Bullets record for the season stands at 9-4. The Bullets will play next weekend in the Mother’s Day Spring Fling in Manhattan.
