The Optimist Bullets 12-and-under fastpitch softball team competed in the Lake Shawnee Spring Shootout this weekend.

The Bullets recorded a 3-1 record to finish the tournament in second place.

The Bullets defeated the Phenix Howe 9-4 with Katie Suther pitching the win. Mady Trujillo went 3-for-3 at the plate, with all other team members reaching base safely at least once in the game.

Lawsyn Rowden helped lead the Bullets from the mound in a 10-1 victory over the Bandettes. Rowden struck out five batters, and allowed only three walks.

The Bullets split two games with the St. Joe Express. Suther pitched a 9-3 win in the first meeting. Suther, Rachel Allen, and Trujillo combined for seven of the nine runs in the victory. Suther’s record on the mound is 4-0 for the season.

The second meeting against the Express resulted in the only loss for the Bullets on the weekend. Unable to get any offense going, the Bullets lost 8-2.
