The Optimist Bullets placed fifth in the USSSA 12-and-under C state tournament this past weekend.
In a field of 20 teams, the Bullets went 3-2.
The Bullets won their first game of the tournament by defeating the Baseburners 3-1. Sydney Hefty was 2-for-2 from the plate and scored two runs. Rachel Allen notched the win from the circle, striking out 10 batters and allowing only one hit.
The second game ended in a 3-2 loss to the Lunachix. The Bullets rallied in the last inning with Mady Trujillo and Allen combining for two runs, but the rally would fall shortwith the Bullets leaving the tying run on base.
The Bullets rebounded with an 8-0 victory against the Tornadoes. Emma Faulkner was 2-for-2 with two runs. Sydney Hefty hit back-to-back doubles and added two more runs for the Bullets. Allen singled and tripled, adding one run and picking up an RBI.
Katie Suther recorded another win to her record in the circle, striking out six Tornadoes and allowing only two hits.
A slow start against the Phenix Howe resulted in an exciting win with the Bullets prevailing 3-2. Down 2-0 inthe next to last inning, Hannah Divine and Emma Faulkner would combine to make a crucial defensive double play to stop a Phenix rally.

Rachel Allen would secure the win for the Bullets from the circle, striking out three consecutive Phenix batters to end the game.
In their third back-to-back game, the Bullets would draw the Lunachix once more. Unable to get any offense going, the Bullets lost 6-0 and were eliminated from the semifinal round of the tournament.
The Bullets are now 20-11-1 in division play for the season.
