An 11-year-old boy was detained on Friday for aggravated arson and criminal threat following an argument with a family member.

Officer Matthew Droge said Riley County officers were called to the northeast part of Manhattan at about 7 a.m. on Friday after the boy reportedly made threatening comments to a family member and lit a piece of paper on fire.

The boy is in the custody of the Geary County Juvenile Detention Center, where is he awaiting his first court appearance.

His name is not being released since he is younger than 14 years of age.
