Betty F. Lee, age 91, of Manhattan, died Monday at Via Christi Village in Manhattan.
She was born June 3, 1922, in Manhattan, the daughter of Frederick C. and Rosa Lee (Jackson) Piper. Betty grew up in the Ashland Bottoms area south of Manhattan and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1940.
Betty was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her sister and Ruth Albin, needle point, reading cook books and loved cooking.
She provided day care in her home for many years.
On May 24, 1942, in Manhattan, she was married to Thomas Francis Lee. He preceded her in death in April of 1966. She was also preceded in death by three children: Thomas Lee, Kathy Weixelman and Galen Lee; and her seven siblings: Fred Piper, Thelma Piper, Bernard Piper, Joe Piper, Kenneth Piper, Twyla Roesener and Dick Piper.
Survivors include her two sons: Neil Lee and his wife Janet and Jamie Lee and his wife Amy both of Manhattan; 15 grandchildren: Tommy, Debra Jo, Marc and Shannon Lee, Michael and Trent Weixelman, Angela Flores, Shiloh Richardson, Gabrielle Lee, Amber, Andee, Adam and Arin Lee, Wendy Steffek and Corey Lee; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two children-in-laws: Nancy Lee and Mike Weixelman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home with Deacon Larry Erpelding officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Elbow Creek east of Manhattan.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
