Betty Lee Lorenz, 89, of Manhattan, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, in Topeka.

The family provided the following information.

Betty was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Lawrence, the daughter of Lawrence L. and Ruby J. (Woodward) Martin.  Betty graduated from Topeka High School. 

She married Henry D. Vogel and they had one son, Lawrence. 

In 1985, Betty married Harvey Lorenz in Manhattan.  He preceded her in death in 1989. 

Betty worked in Topeka at Santa Fe Railroad, Sewell Oil, and Topeka Blood Bank.  She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.  She especially enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Cinda Vogel of Manhattan; granddaughter Lindsay (Vogel) Silver and her husband Clint of Osage City; great-grandsons Reed and Chase Silver of Osage City; sister Wanda Hicks of Topeka; and a niece, Lana Beck and her husband Loren, also of Topeka.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.  Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
