Bette Solberg, 92, of Manhattan, died Wednesday at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born April 19, 1921, in Minneapolis, Minn., where she was raised until she married Howard Burton Solberg on Jan. 17,1942, in Minneapolis.They later moved to Sacramento, Calif., where they had and raised two children. Her husband Howard preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1967, and she remained in Sacramento. She worked for the State Of California, Department of Justice where she was a supervisor until she retired and moved to Manhattan in 1999.

Bette was a very strong and independent woman who loved to work in her yard and on her house. She was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Sacramento.

She never remarried and dedicated her life to her children, parents and to her home after her husband passed away.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by their newborn son, Loren and both parents, Fred and Elsie Baldwin.

She is survived by two children, Richard Solberg of Gallatin, Tenn. and Carol Oman of Manhattan.

No services will be held and a family gathering will be held at a later date. The Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
