The beef industry is doing it part to reduce emissions.
The beef industry is made up of farmers and ranchers who have demonstrated an ongoing and genuine commitment to protect the environment. A study conducted at Washington State University showed that because of advances in production practices between 1977 and 2007, we have actually decreased carbon emissions by 18 percent. Addi-tionally, according to a 2008 re-port by the Environmental Protection Agency, methane from livestock accounts for only 2.4 percent of total U.S. greenhouse emissions.
