To the Editor:

Everyone loves a parade! And one is coming to town on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11. Everyone is invited to attend and participate.

The theme for this year’s parade is “America’s Veterans – We Salute You.” One of the longest Veterans Day parades in the State of Kansas will “kick off” at Manhattan Town Center at 9:30 a.m. and run to City Park.  You all come and have fun!

There will be activities all day, beginning with a breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at the American Legion, 114 McCall Road. After the parade, there will be a program at the Wareham beginning at 11 a.m.. It will include awards for the elemen-tary school poster competition and the high school essay competition.

At 6 p.m., there will be a Veterans Day Recognition Banquet at the American Legion. Tickets are $12. For reservations, call 776-4556, or you can pay at the door.

In addition, there will be displays of military memorabilia in various sites around town, including store windows, Manhattan Town Center and the Riley County Seniors Center.

The day-long celebration is planned and conducted by the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition (FHVC) with cooperation and sponsorships from veterans organ-izations, schools, business organizations, Fort Riley, K-State, Manhattan and others.
