The Riley County Treasurer’s office is gearing up for a transition to a new system that will force a temporary halt to motor vehicle registrations in early May.

County treasurer Eileen King reminded commissioners Monday that her office will be closed for motor vehicle business, including titles, registrations, drivers license and ID cards, from May 1 through May 7.

The entire state is implementing a new motor vehicle registration system at that time.

King also said April 26 will be the last day for people to use the online web-tag service, and also the last day for customers to mail in renewals before the system is shut down.

She said she hoped that all systems would be up and running under the new format by May 8.
