Attempted burglary at sorority

By The Mercury

Pi Beta Phi sorority members reported that someone attempted to break into their sorority house sometime overnight between March 3 and 4, while members slept.

Officer Matthew Droge said that an unknown person or persons attempted to gain entry at 1819 Todd Road by prying the side-door lock, but said they did not succeed.

Droge said detectives are not sure why the perpetrators attempted to gain entry but said it is not uncommon for sorority and fraternity members to prank other Greek houses by stealing their composite photographs.

He said he would like to remind the public that even if it is a prank, breaking into a building that is occupied is considered aggravated burglary, a felony offense.
