ATA bus to provide parking service

By The Mercury

ATA bus will provide a parking shuttle for the April 14 grand opening of the Flint Hills Discovery Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ATA bus director Anne Smith said the service will be free and the buses will run at 15-minute intervals during the day. She cautioned that an event at the Hilton Gardens will make parking at a premium.

Smith also told county commissioners Monday that the company is still deciding pick-up locations for its city-wide service.

There will be 6-8 spots per mile.

Those spots, Smith said, will be reviewed every 3-6 months.

The Riley County Volunteer Tax Income Site at the Manhattan Public Library will be providing tax assistance this Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. and on April 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The tax site has helped more than 400 people file their taxes and 95 percent of those users have received a refund.

The Riley County Budget calendar was approved.

By June 22, the value of 1 mill will be established on June 22. On July 16, commissioners are expected to approve all county budgets.

The Riley County Treasurer’s Office is opening one hour later at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

The reason for the delay: one hour state-wide training on the new motor vehicle system, which will go live in May.

A VIN inspector will at the treasurer’s office from 8-9 a.m. to do verifications.
