Arrest made in burning of Green Chicken

Pottawatomie County officials have made an arrest in the April 9 arson fire set outside an apartment located above the Green Chicken Tavern in St. George.

Sheriff Greg Riat said deputies arrested Troy Priest, 26, St. George, on a warrant for aggravated arson after Priest turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Department on April 24.  His bond was set at $5,000.

Riat said deputies applied for an arrest warrant for Priest after he became a suspect following tips from the public.

County Fire Supervisor Bruce Brazzle told Pottawatomie County commissioners earlier in the month that the fire was set at approximately 11:20 p.m. on April 9 and caused some damage to the building, which had been occupied at the time. There were no injuries.
