Arizona’s anniversary is cause for a smile for Manhattan couple

By Letters to the Editor

I was born and raised in Arizona. In school I learned that Arizona became a state on Valentine’s Day. So after about one date with that good looking tuba player in the Arizona State College Band, on Feb. 14, 1947, I sent my wife-to-be a “Happy Arizona Admissions Day” card that I dreamed up instead of a regular valentine. Sixty-five years later we still smile about this.
