Marinello Schools of Beauty has announced the winners of its fifth annual Raw Talent Scholarship competition, and local student Kynedee Hodges from Rock Creek High School won first place in the Midwest region. The victory means she will receive $10,000 toward a Marinello education.

The competition awards scholarship money to the top winners and three one-day professional beauty workshops to runners-up. All applicants were required to write a beauty and wellness-focused essay and perform a hairstyling or makeup demonstration to be entered into the competition.

Kynedee has enrolled at Marinello’s Manhattan campus.  “I am extremely excited to have won this competition, because now a huge financial burden has been lifted off of my shoulders,” she said. “This means that I am just that much closer to achieving my goal of becoming a cosmetologist.”
