Anton Louis Ptacek, Jr, 92, of Lenexa, died Monday at the Saint Luke’s Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m.Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Leavenworth.

The family provided some of the following information.

Anton was born April 24, 1921, in Lyon County. He was the son of Anton Ptacek, Sr., and Martha Ptacek.  He lived in Manhattan 44 years before moving to Lenexa in 1987, Anton was the owner and president of Bird Music Distributors, Inc. for 67 years, retiring in 2012. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW in Manhattan. During World War II, Anton served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Corp.

Anton was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Sheppard; a brother, Thomas Ptacek; and a son-in-law, Edward Mehl.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Anna May Ptacek; children and their spouses, Betty Mehl, Charles (Sandra) Ptacek, David (Traudel Watts) Ptacek, George (Giuliana Swift) Ptacek, Thomas (Pam) Ptacek, Carol (James) Wallace; grandchildren and their spouses, Kelsy (John) Muenks, Devan Ptacek, Michael (Cindy) Ptacek, Jerod Ptacek, Emily Ptacek, Sacha (Zephyr) Ptacek, Charles Wallace, Andrew (Lauren) Wallace, Scott Ptacek, Thomas Ptacek; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Stella and Gavin Ptacek and a brother, James (Jean) Ptacek.
