Anthony Middle School wins Little Apple Slamfest

The Anthony eighth grade volleyball team held off a scrappy effort from Eisenhower Middle School on Monday to win the Little Apple Slamfest. 

The two teams played a close first set with Anthony winning 25-22 and closing out the second set 25-16. 

Kayla Bush led Anthony with four service winners.  Gigi McAtee had seven kills. Izumi Azano had four kills. 

Lauren Casper had six assists and Grace Walker had three. 

For EMS, Kennedy Wilson led the team with four kills and two blocks. Karmen Martinie had two kills and one dig. Raylene Stone had two blocks and Liz Wilson had three kills and one dig.

Anthony won the B team match 21-25, 26-24 and15-7. 

Kaylee Fritchen and Morgan Chauncey had five kills apiece.

After the match, Manhattan High head coach Lisa Kinderknecht and several of the Indians’ players addressed both middle school teams, welcoming them to the MHS program.
