AMS tops Shawnee Heights

Anthony Middle School defeated Shawnee Heights Middle School 22-14 this past week in Topeka.

In the first quarter, AMS took advantage of a bad snap on a punt to gain field position deep in Shawnee Heights territory.  An 18-yard pass from Braedyn Woborny to Martin Vogts was the first touchdown of the half.  The two-point conversion failed. 

Shawnee Heights was able to score a touchdown and converted the two-point conversion to take an 8-6 lead in the second quarter. 

AMS scored again before halftime on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Woborny to Vogts.  The two-point conversion run was scored by Chance Andrade to give AMS a 14-8 halftime lead.

Both teams would score again in the second half.  Shawnee Heights tied the game at 14 with a touchdown in the third quarter. 

Anthony took the lead for good on a 17-yard run by Andrade. The two-point conversion was completed on a pass from Woborny to Mason Wallace.

Shawnee Heights won the B game, 22-14.  Zach Hulsmeyer scored the first AMS touchdown on a 49-yard pass from Talin Claussen. The two-point conversion failed.

AMS tied the score late in the second half on a 53-yard run by CJ Lowery.  The two-point conversion was completed on a pass from Claussen to Cameron Vikander. 

Shawnee Heights scored with 6 seconds left in the game for the win.
