Alleged drug money found in car

Junction City police arrested an Arizona man Tuesday after they discovered nearly $830,000 in cash in his truck that officials believe were proceeds from drug sales.

Officials said the money was divided into boxes placed in the bed of Marshall Dion’s truck. Dion, 78, was arrested for transportation of drug proceeds and speeding.

Officers with the K-9 unit stopped Dion at about 9:30 a.m. near Milepost 289 on I-70 Tuesday for a routine traffic stop. He had been driving a GMC pick-up truck with Colorado license plates.

Officials said during contact, the officer developed probable cause to search the truck.

Following the investigation, police seized the currency as well as the truck.

Marshall was booked into the Geary County Jail without bond pending his first appearance in Geary County District Court.
