All current office holders in Pottawatomie County have filed for re-election.
The filing deadline for county offices is noon Friday, June 1. Republican and Democratic candidates must file with the county clerk’s office at Westmoreland, while candidates in non-traditional parties must file with the Kansas Secretary of State’s office, according to Nancy McCarter, Pott County election officer.
Pott County incumbents (all Republicans) who have filed for re-election include: Pat Weixelman, District 2 commissioner; Stan Hartwich, District 3 commissioner; McCarter, county clerk; Sherri Schuck, county attorney; Greg Riat, sheriff; Lisa Wright, treasurer; and Betty Abitz, register of deeds.
The general election for county offices will be held in November. A primary election, if required, will be held in August.
