Aggravated arson results in small fire

By The Mercury

Two Manhattan men reported that they woke up to a very small fire ignited outside of their apartment on Saturday.

Officer Matthew Droge said the fire was ignited by an unknown suspect or suspects using an improvised incendiary device.

Matthew Prayso, 45, and Terrance Bise, 45, both of 512 Moro St., reported that they were able to extinguish the small fire, but firefighters were still called to the scene at about 9:35 a.m. Sunday.

Droge said the blaze caused minor smoke and heat damage. The loss is estimated at $500.

The case is under investigation. It is considered an aggravated arson because people were asleep nearby when it was set.
