The Manhattan Optimist Aftershock 16-and-under team finished their season at the USSSA State tournament in Kansas City.
The Topeka Hooligans took the first game 8-3. Grace Suther got the pitching loss but hit a triple. Makayla Tegtmeier pitched in relief and had a single. Jayden Weers and Maddie Rogers each doubled
A strong offensive showing against the Topeka Lady Cobras paid off with a 10-6 win. Tegtmeier got the win, while Jayden Weers had finished on the mound. Olivia Lee had a single and a triple before she was injured and taken out of the game. Kali Crome added a double. Tia Wood, Emily Brummett, Alyssa Sias, Maleah Sandy, Mikayla Winter, Weers, and Tegtmeier all added singles in the win.
The Aftershock’s season ended with a 12-4 loss to KC Fire. Weers took the loss. Crome had a double and a single with Weers adding two doubles to the offense. Maddie Rogers had a single and Lee singled once before she re-injured her leg and had to leave the game.
Aftershock is comprised of young ladies from several area school softball teams. They represent Riley County, Wamego, Marysville, Junction City and Rock Creek. The Aftershock team finished their season with a 13-20 record playing some tough competition. The team was coached by Jeff Brummett and Julie Brummett.
