The Manhattan Optimist 14-and-under Aftershock played in the rain-shortened “Take a Bite Outta the Lil Apple” tournament in Manhattan and Wamego this weekend.

They opened with a victory over the Topeka Bobcats, 10-0. Jayden Weers got the win with Ashley Faiola was behind the plate. Faiola also led at the team offensively with a pair of singles. Emily Brummett, Olivia Lee, Alex Rogers and Maigan Powers each added a single.

In the second game, lack of hitting and rain helped the Topeka Magic to a 4-2 victory.  Makayla Tegtmeier took the loss and Lee caught. Alyssa Sias, Tegtmeier and Brummett each singled.

In bracket play on Sunday morning in Wamego, the Aftershock lost to the Manhattan Optimist Xplosion, 3-2. Tegtmeier took the loss again with Lee completing the battery. The Aftershock mustered only four hits — Powers and Weers had one each and Brummett had two singles.

The Aftershock (6-6-1) will play in the Kansas USSSA State tournament in Topeka this weekend.
