Action Pact takes elder care to new level

By The Mercury

Action Pact, a Manhattan-based company internationally known for innovations in senior living, announces a landmark partnership with Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo., just north of Kansas City, Mo., and Healthy Living Centers of America to build the nation’s first healthy living community specifically designed to integrate primary, acute and post-acute health care services within an intergenerational living community.

The $60 million project, on the campus of Liberty Hospital, will advance new models of care, spanning inpatient and outpatient services, and focus on prevention and management of chronic conditions, instead of on traditional, reactive and episodic acute care. The partnership among the three organizations also brings economic development and employment opportunities to the city of Liberty.

The project will be anchored by a healthy living center designed to serve as the hub for healthcare integration. Designed as a village at the hospital, the development will be both mixed-use and pedestrian-oriented, and will include restaurants, retail, medical and traditional office space, a short-term stay recovery hotel, assisted living and independent living. It will also include homes for people of all ages.

“We are honored to be in partnership with Liberty Hospital,” said Action Pact CEO Steve Shields. “The partnership will produce the next generation of senior living.”

Action Pact will co-own, design, develop and operate the project with Liberty Hospital and Healthy Living Centers of America.

The first phase of the project is expected to open by the summer of 2016.

Future phases will include primary housing, health care professionals housing, independent and active adult living opportunities, as well as additional office, medical and retail space.

Action Pact offers a comprehensive suite of services for residential senior living and acute care communities. Services include pre-feasibility analysis, organizational restructuring, fund sourcing, project development, architectural design, operations management and consulting. The company currently has clients in 26 states and five countries. Based in Manhattan, Action Pact also has offices in Milwaukee, Wis., Atlanta, Ga., and Kolkata, India.

The mission of Liberty Hospital is to work in partnership with its community to improve the health and well-being of those it serves.
