Accident possible hit and run

By Katherine Wartell

The Geary County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that a fatal motorcycle accident on I-70 early Friday morning is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Bradey Weaver, 28, Toledo, Ohio, was found with head injuries near his motorcycle at approximately 3 a.m. Friday on the westbound ramp of Exit 310 on the interstate, about 13 miles east of Junction City. He was later pronounced dead at Geary Community Hospital.

On Monday, Maj. Tony Wolf with the Geary County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was at first not conducive to investigation because of heavy rainfall. But once the rain let up and they were able to get a good look at the scene, officials determined it was a hit-and-run accident.

Wolf said paint transfer on the motorcycle indicated that a white or off-white vehicle could have hit Weaver.

Officials said they are not sure if the other driver intentionally left the scene or did not realize they had hit anyone in the heavy rainfall.

The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information in reference to this accident to call the Geary County Sheriff’s Department at (785) 238-2261.
