Accident in Clay County

Two motorcyclists, including a Manhattan man, were injured Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident on K-82 about a mile west of Wakefield in Clay County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, Lester Elsasser, 93, Wakefield was driving his 2005 Ford pick-up truck on K-82, when he made a u-turn at the intersection of Sunflower Road and was struck by a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Carl Davis Hendricks Jr., 27, Alma.

Shortly after, Hendricks was struck by a Honda 2010 motorcycle driven by Tory Levell Peoples, 39, Manhattan.

Both men were injured and taken to Geary County Community Hospital. Hendricks was later transported to KU Medical Center. They were both reportedly wearing helmets.

Elsasser was not injured.
