The Big 12 announced the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team earlier today with a conference-leading 27 Wildcats earning the honor. In all, 114 student-athletes, 93 first team and 21 second team, were honored for the 2013-14 academic year.
Among the 27 athletes honored for K-State, 23 earned first team honors, while the remaining four Wildcats were named to the second team. K-State also had two of only seven student-athletes in the conference to finish with a perfect 4.0 grade point averages, as Beth DeMars and Abby Weaver accomplished the feat for a third-straight season.
The 27 honored are the most ever for the program, as the Big 12 began recognizing an All-Academic team for women’s rowing beginning in 2011-12. The past two seasons, in order, saw K-State have 23 and 22 rowers be recognized, respectively.
First teamers included Aly Bronder, Courtney Cooke, DeMars, Allison Dorau, Noelle Dykmann, Kelsey Eagleman, Mary Rose Eakes, Courtney Faucett, Ally Franken, Hannah Frith, Madi Haney, Jessica Kuhlman, Meaghan Kuzmich, Brittany Long, Meggie Murray, Kara Omo, Rachael Plotas, Erin Roeser, Lindsey Schmeidler, Kelsey Schultz, Jennifer Smisek, Ariana Thompson, and Weaver.
Kelsey Harlow, Hayley Harvey, Katie Mulich and Allison Tuxhorn were on the second team.
