Twenty people were arrested early Monday morning in Grandview Plaza after officials said they took part in a large fight in a field near East Flint Hills Boulevard and Cannon View Drive, off of I-70.
Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf said a 911 call was made to the Grandview Police Department around midnight, and that the Grandview police, Geary County Sheriff’s Department and Junction City Police Department responded to the scene.
Wolf said the fight started at the Ogden Community Center and carried over to Grandview Plaza, with some of the participants intending to get reinforcements in Junction City. Officials said the participants decided to exit the interstate near Exit 300 instead and fight in a field near the exit. They said the motive is still unclear. WIBW-TV reported the fight was over a girl.
Wolf said 17 adults and three juveniles were arrested and that the adults are being held at the Geary County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and rioting. No one was said to be seriously injured.
Officials said the arrested are from Ogden, Junction City, Manhattan and Fort Riley, and that three are soldiers. Police are still looking into the matter.
