$15,000 stolen from Colbert Hills

By The Mercury

Riley County detectives are investigating a nearly $15,000 theft, stolen after a reported hacking, at Colbert Hills Golf Course.

Officials with Colbert Hills said it appears an unknown person or persons hacked into their secured payroll and changed approximately 15 employees’ bank account information so that instead of the employees receiving automated bank transactions, the money went into several different United States banks, unique accounts and locations.

The total amount stolen is estimated to be about $14,821.

Officials with the company said they reviewed surveillance footage and concluded the crime did not take place on the premises.

Riley County detectives have filed a theft and computer crime report.
