The Riley County Police Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas State University Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the early morning hours on Saturday in the 2000 Block of Kimball Avenue.
Two hundred and sixty-two vehicles were stopped in the checkpoint between the hours of 12:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
Seventeen drivers were evaluated for impaired driving.
Of those evaluated, 10 people were arrested — nine for DUI and one for possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. There were an additional five people cited for minor in consumption of alcohol and three for transporting an open container of alcohol.
