One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Geary County Thursday afternoon, while another person was reportedly hospitalized.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:25 p.m. on I-70, near where the interstate intersects with K-57 in Grandview Plaza.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, a driver whose identity has not yet been released lost control of his or her vehicle in the eastbound lanes of 1-70 due to icy road conditions.

The car struck a parked snow plow, reportedly belonging to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

As of noon Friday, KHP officials were still not releasing the names of those involved, but they confirmed the driver of the passenger car was killed. Officials said the person who was hospitalized was a passenger in the car that struck the snow plow.
